Shortcuts on your BlackBerry

Knowing your shortcuts make it easier to enjoy all your BlackBerry has to offer!

  • Day to day functions:

Switch applications Press and hold the BlackBerry button (to the left of the track pad).
Change font size or style Select the Set-up icon, select Fonts.
Change what the Convenience key (the key at the bottom on the right hand side) does Select the Set-up icon, scroll to Convenience Key.
Exit a programme Press the BlackBerry button, scroll through the options.
Add an app to your Favourites view Highlight the app, select the BlackBerry button, select Mark as Favourite.
Change your wallpaper On the home screen, select the BlackBerry button, select Options.

  • Making calls:

Check your voice mail Press the Send key (on the left at the bottom of the phone) and hold 1.
Change your ring tone On the home screen, press the Send key (which you press to make a call) select the BlackBerry button, select Phone Ringtones.
Turn on or turn off the speakerphone during a call Select the Speaker key on the screen.
Set speed dial for a contact Press the Send key (on the left at the bottom of the phone) and hold the key that you would like to assign a speed dial to.
Mute a call Press the Mute button on the screen.

  • Keyboard and typing shortcuts

Turn on CAPS lock Press and hold the Shift key until the lock incon appears on the screen. To turn it off tap Shift.
To add numbers and symbols Press the &%123 key on the keyboard, if the symbol you need is not there tap the &% key.

  • Music and video shortcuts:

Skip forward or back through your playlist Press and hold the Volume Up or Volume Down key (the first and third keys on the side).
Pause an audio or video file Press the Mute key (the middle button on the right side of your BlackBerry), press it again to resume.
Play your music on shuffle Select the BlackBerry button, press the Media icon, press the Music icon, then select Shuffle Songs.
Record a video Select the BlackBerry button, press the Media icon, then select the Video Camera icon.

  • Camera and photo:

Take a picture Press the Convenience key (the bottom key on the side), press again to take a picture.
Zoom in or out before taking a picture Press the Volume Up or Volume Down key (the first and third keys on the side).
Change the camera scene mode before taking a picture - this creates the ideal conditions for your picture On the camera screen select the Scene Modes key (the fifth image) and scroll through the scenes.
Delete a picture Select a picture, then press delete on the keyboard.
Set a picture as your wallpaper Select a picture, press the BlackBerry button, scroll to Set As Wallpaper and select.

  • Messaging:

While in a message

Reply to a message Press R
Reply to all in an email Press L
Forward a message Press F
Move to the next message Press N
Move to the previous message Press P

  • Messaging:

Move around your message inbox

To

 

Move to the top of a message inbox Press T
Move to the bottom of a message inbox Press B
Move to the next unread item Press U
Move to the next related message Press J
Move to the previous related message Press K
