Basic Troubleshooting

What to do...

We get a lot of requests for repairs and technical help which you can easily fix yourself, saving you time.
Just follow these simple steps:
  1

Reset your phone

Phones sometimes just need a break - turning them off and back on can solve a lot of issues:

  • Close any open applications and files, our eyeopener video on Youtube will show you how to do this.
  • Reset your BlackBerry by pressing and holding the end call button or selecting the Power Off button in the menu
  • Remove the battery and wait for 3-5 seconds
  • Replace the battery and wait for your Blackberry to start up again. This may take some time so be patient!

Clean the SIM/memory card

Sometimes dust can get between the SIM and the phone, causing issues:

  • Turn your BlackBerry off and remove the SIM card.
  • Clean the gold space on the SIM with a clean lint-free cloth. Be careful SIMs are fragile.
  • Replace the battery and wait for your Blackberry to start up again. Again, this could take a while so be patient!
  • Then turn your BlackBerry off again, replace the SIM and battery and allow it to restart again.

Update the software

It could be a software issue, so make sure you have the latest software for your BlackBerry. Learn how to update your BlackBerry's software.

  4

Work out what's not working

The issue will either be with your SIM or your BlackBerry, find out which by trying your SIM in a different phone or a different SIM in your BlackBerry.
