Activating your iPhone 5

Before you insert your SIM

1. View this message
2. Ensure your number has been transferred over to your nano SIM. Check with your network if you're not sure.
3. Check your voicemail messages on your current phone, as activation can delete them

Using the Setup Assistant

1. Insert your nano SIM card into the SIM tray on the side of your iPhone.
• To open the SIM tray push your SIM eject tool, that (or a paper clip!) into the hole on the side

• Before you start, ensure your Wi-Fi network is turned on and you know the password
• Turn on your iPhone using the power button at the top
• Move the slider across to begin the setup
• Now select English from the list of languages
• Select Next
• Then select United Kingdom from the list of countries or regions
• Select Next
• Select from the options to enable or disable location services, which is things like Maps and GPS
• Select Next
• Now you'll need to connect to a Wi-Fi network, so select your provider from the list and enter the password you use for it (this is case sensitive)
• Your iPhone will now start its setup process, this may take up to 3 minutes
• Now make your selection from the choices on screen, based on whether this is your first iPhone or not. In this example we've selected Set Up as New iPhone
• Select Next
• Then sign in with your Apple ID (if you don't have one yet, select the second button to create one)
• Read the terms and conditions then select Agree
• Your iPhone will now start its activation process, this may take up to 3 minutes
• Now select Use iCloud
• Select Next
• Select Back Up to iCloud
• Select Next
• Select Use Find my iPhone
• Select Next
• Select Use Siri
• Then confirm whether you wish to send diagnostics (notifications of any Siri issues to Apple)
• Select Next
• Then too complete the activation process, Register with Apple by ensuring the slider is set to ON

Activating your iPhone by connecting to your computer

1. Insert your nano SIM card into the SIM tray on the side of your iPhone.
• To open the SIM tray push your SIM eject tool (or a paper clip!) into the hole on the side
2. Download the latest version of iTunes to your computer
3. Select Download
4. Select Save
5. Wait for iTunes to finish downloading, then click Run on your computer
6. Accept the iTunes terms and conditions agreement then follow the instructions on your PC
7. Connect your iPhone to the USB port on your computer using the cable included in your iPhone box
8. iTunes will open automatically
9. Follow the instructions on screen to activate your iPhone and sync it with iTunes
