Using Wi-Fi

What is Wi-Fi?

  • Wi-Fi uses radio waves to connect to the internet without wires. Instead of using a mobile network connection like 3G or GPRS, it picks up the internet via Wi-Fi hotspots.
  • These hotspots (also know as routers) can be found in public places like offices, cafés and libraries; they transmit signals your can device pick up. You may already have one at home for accessing a broadband line.
Wi-Fi is also referred to as WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) on some devices.

On your phone, Wi-Fi is named WLAN

  1. Select the Menu button (the middle button between answer call and reject call)
  2. Select Settings
  3. Scroll down and select Connectivity
  4. Select WLAN
  5. Your phone will start to scan for wireless networks to connect to, you can then select one

Filter out Wi-Fi networks

You can remove networks, so next time your phone won't list them

  • Select Settings
  • Scroll down and select Connectivity
  • Select WLAN
  • Select Options
  • Select Filter WLAN networks

Remember

Keeping connections running uses up your battery. Once you've finished, remember to return to Settings to turn Bluetooth off.
