Data tethering

What is tethering?

  • Tethering is a way of securely sharing your phone's 3G internet connection with another compatible device, such as a tablet or PC.
  • This can be done wirelessly through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
  • A data tethering bolt-on is an additional internet allowance that can be added to your monthly contract, letting you share data between your smartphone and tablet, reducing usage costs.
  • We offer lots of tablet and phone packages. If it's possible to tether with these, there will be a data allowance included in the deal.

Don't confuse tethering and bridging

Bridging is mirroring the information stored on your smartphone on a tablet, and only applies to BlackBerry devices.

Remember

  • It's not possible to tether on all networks and within all data allowances.
  • Networks that do support tethering may not include it in data allowances, so may charge you additionally.
  • We advise you to check your network's terms and conditions and data charges before you tether your devices.
