Why do I need to update my software?

To get the most from your device, it's a good idea to update its software every now and again. Also, you may think your phone is broken and in need of a repair when a simple software update will do the trick. These updates are free and have some great benefits, including:

• Great new features
• Updated applications
• Better performance
• Fixing known software problems
  

Before you update...

• Back up any files stored on your phone, updates can delete your saved data, including saved contacts and pictures
• Bear in mind there may be an extra data fee
• Make sure your microSD card is inserted, as the update will be saved there.
• Don't cancel the update in the middle of the download - this may damage your phone
  

Updating your software

• Your device can check for updates and notify you if there's a new one. A dialog box will appear onscreen, then simply follow the onscreen prompts to download it.
• To check for updates yourself:

1. At the top of the screen, drag the bar down.
2. Select the Notifications tab
3. Select the update notification
4. Choose what type of connection you want to use to download the update
5. Follow the onscreen prompts.

If you're confused, don't worry! We can do it for you:

1. Bring your phone to any of our Express Repair Centres and we'll update the software for you for free. We aim to fix 80% of phones on the same day
2. If there isn't a repair centre near you, drop it off in any Carphone Warehouse store and we'll send it away to have the software updated. Please be aware that it can take up to 14 days for your phone to arrive back in store
