Downloading an App

What are iPhone apps?

Applications (or apps for short) are small computer programmes that run on your iPhone enhancing what it can do.
Your iPhone already includes some apps and you can customise it with more, downloading apps for the things you love.
Whether it's apps for chat, cooking or movie-making, the selection is endless and new ones are added all the time.

How do they work?

Browse the App Store to customise your iPhone with downloads.
A simple tap will download an app to your iPhone and it will then be permanently stored there.
Your iPhone will alert you when there's updates for your downloaded apps
Remember: it's always a good idea to back up all precious things like apps on a personal computer.

How much are they?

Lots of iPhone apps are free - but some require a fee to download.
When you download apps from the internet, you might also be charged for internet usage. Check with your network for more info.

Downloading an App

Select Apps store on the homescreen

Select Search
Enter you search, eg. Youtube
Select Price (for paid for apps) or Free (for apps that you don't need to pay for)

Select Install app
Enter the password you use for your Apple ID

Select Ok

Youtube is no longer a built-in app on the iPhone 5. To access it, you'll need to download it from the App store by following the above steps.
