Updating the software on your Lumia 800
What are the advantages of a software update on the Lumia 800?
- Prolonged battery life.
- If you experience an unresponsive screen when ending calls, it will fix this.
- Improved sound when playing music.
- Illuminated soft keys at all screen brightness levels
How do I update?
- A notification will appear on your home screen once an update is available or you can manually check for updates by selecting Settings, then phone update on your Lumia.
- You can only update via a PC, not via Wi-Fi or 3G.
- If you haven't already, you'll need to install the Zune software (Windows) or Windows Phone 7 Connector (Mac OS) on your computer.
- Connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable that came with your phone.
- If the software doesn't start automatically when you connect your phone, start it manually.
- For Zune software, select Update Now, in Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac, select Install Updates.
- Keep your phone connected to your computer until you receive a notification that the update is complete.
During the software update don't use your phone for anything, this can prevent the updates from completing.

After updating, the Nokia Diagnostics Tool doesn't show any details about battery capacity.
To find out how much battery life you have left, select Settings then System then Battery saver.
Since the update my ring tones and the warning tones I receive when using my headset seem louder.
The ring tone volume will adjust itself automatically after the first 2 seconds to the standard level and the audio volume for warning tones is still within the safety limits.
The battery indicator is showing a ? symbol.
Nokia are currently working on a solution for this.
