What kind of phone do I need?

If you want to email from your phone, you'll need to get one that can access the internet. If you're going to use email a lot, it's also worth looking for a phone that has a dedicated email application.

How does email work on a mobile phone?

There are two ways to receive email on your phone:

• Push email - this means your phone will automatically download emails as you receive them. You'll get an alert as soon as they arrive, just as you would with a text message. Push email is found in all BlackBerrys.
• Pull email - this means you need to tell your phone to download your emails before you can read them. So instead of being told each time you get a new email, you'll get them all in one go when you log on to download them. You can usually set up your phone to download new emails automatically at set intervals.
