How do deposits work?

Why might I be asked to pay a deposit when I sign up to a monthly contract?

We always need to carry out a credit check before we can sign you up to a monthly contract. Sometimes the network you're signing up to will look at your credit history and ask for a refundable deposit before we can connect you.

• You'll need to pay this deposit if you want to sign up - if you don't, we'll do our best to find you a different deal that doesn't require a deposit.
• The size of the deposit can vary depending on the provider and your credit status. We'll let you know how much they're asking for when you take the credit check; if you order online we'll let you know in an email.

When will I get the deposit back?

This depends on which network you want to connect to.

Choose a Pay monthly phone on another network

Each network has different criteria for their credit check. So you may find you aren't asked for a deposit if you choose another network. You can check out our great range of Pay monthly offers online.

Please remember that you'll need to take a credit check to sign up to any Pay monthly contract. Taking repeated credit checks may affect your credit rating.

I ordered online - how do I cancel my order?

If you ordered online and your network asked for a deposit, we'll send you an email to let you know.

• If you want to cancel your order and buy something else, just give us a call on 0870 087 0870^.
• If we don't hear from you within seven days we'll cancel your order automatically and send you an email to say so.
